GEO for financial services
What AI search expects from pages about money, and how to make yours clear, current and easy to trust.

People ask AI about money
People ask AI how to save, borrow or invest. A wrong answer can cost them real money.
That is why Google treats money topics with extra care. Your pages need to show clearly who stands behind the information.
Money is a “Your Money or Your Life” topic
Google’s quality rater guidelines name four kinds of YMYL topics. One of them is “YMYL Financial Security”, with “how to invest money” as an example.
The guidelines are not a ranking formula: they are how Google tells its raters to judge quality. Expertise and trust weigh most, so read our guide to E-E-A-T too.
Google’s rater guidelines (version of 11 September 2025)New: AI answers in Google Finance, also in Europe
On 11 May 2026 Google brought its new Google Finance to Europe, with full local language support. It answers research questions with AI and shows links. It also adds Deep Search and AI explanations of charts.
Google’s post does not list which countries got it. Check in your own market whether it is live yet.
Because its AI answers link out, it is one more place where a clear finance page can be shown.
Google’s announcement (11 May 2026)What builds trust on a finance page
| Topic | Do this | Avoid this |
|---|---|---|
| Who is behind it | Name the author and their qualification or licence. | Anonymous articles, or “by admin”. |
| Rates and fees | Show the date you last checked each rate or fee. | Old rates that nobody updated. |
| Risks | Explain risks in plain words, right next to the benefits. | Only the upside, with risks hidden in small print. |
| Ads and advice | Say clearly when a page is an ad or uses affiliate links. | Paid placements that look like neutral advice. |
| Sources | Link to the regulator, the official product terms or your data source. | Claims without a source. |
Rules for financial ads and risk warnings differ per country. Follow your own regulator first.

What this guide cannot promise
No tool can make AI cite you. We also share no numbers on how often AI cites finance sites, because we have no reliable data on that yet.
This guide is not legal or compliance advice. Check the rules for financial promotions with your regulator or adviser.
