Knowledge panel
A knowledge panel is an information box Google shows when you search for a person, place, organization or thing that is in its Knowledge Graph.
In plain words
Google says knowledge panels are generated automatically. Their information comes from various sources across the web.
People and organizations a panel is about can claim it and suggest changes to its facts.
Example
Search for a well-known museum and you may see a box with its address, opening hours, photos and a short description. That box is its knowledge panel.
Why it matters for AI search
A knowledge panel shows that Google understands your organization as one clear entity, not just as a set of pages.
Google says Organization structured data on your home page can influence which logo is shown in Search results and in your knowledge panel.
What you can do
- Add Organization structured data to your home page with your official name, logo and URL.
- List your official profiles with sameAs.
- If a panel about you exists, claim it and suggest corrections through Google.
Often confused with
- Knowledge Graph
- The Knowledge Graph is Googleβs database of entities. The knowledge panel is one way Google shows it.
